Archbold Equipment Company was formed in 1965 by Lyle Friesen, David Sauder, Herbert Spiess and Marvin Waidelich. The group purchased a small International Harvester dealership that operated out of the back of the local hardware store in town. The business soon outgrew that space in town. Local farmer Walter Stamm donated land for a new facility to be constructed, moving the business to its current location north of town on State Route 66 in February of 1966. In exchange for the land, Stamm was given shares of the company.
Shortly after the facility was constructed, farmers Charlie Beck, Chancie Stuckey, Dale Britch and Stamm put additional capital into the business. In appreciation of their support, the company created a board, and Stamm was asked to serve as the chairman. Since the facility was built, additional shop space has been added to accommodate the amount and size of machinery that is sold and serviced.
